New York City 2002 These

New York City 2002

These are some pictures I took while Annette and I vacationed in Manhattan in October 2002. We had a great time on the trip, just relaxing and seeing the city.

I’m an incessant tweaker and never am happy with my results, though, so you haven’t gotten to see these until now. At some point, I guess, you just have to publish.

Comments, criticism, and suggestions are welcome. I’m just above beginner-level at both photography and photo editing, but it’s a fun hobby.

I don’t usually do this,

I don’t usually do this, but here goes. This is a poem… a poem I wrote for you.

The sorrow.
The regret.
The needless suffering.

Oh!
Why must it have been
This Way?

The minutes and hours.
The hours—no! the days.

Days that cannot be undone,
All that is left is their aroma.

If only I had not forgotten
About you.

Forgotten.

Forgotten.

Putrid.

Lost behind the microwave —
My green bean casserole.

And you may find yourself

And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself—Well…How did I get here?

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house!
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife!

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Same as it ever was…Same as it ever was…Same as it ever was…
Same as it ever was…Same as it ever was…Same as it ever was…
Same as it ever was…Same as it ever was…

Water dissolving…and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Carry the water at the bottom of the ocean
Remove the water at the bottom of the ocean!

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

And you may ask yourself
What is that beautiful house?
And you may ask yourself
Where does that highway go?
And you may ask yourself
Am I right?…Am I wrong?
And you may tell yourself
MY GOD!…WHAT HAVE I DONE?

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Same as it ever was…Same as it ever was…Same as it ever was…
Same as it ever was…Same as it ever was…Same as it ever was…
Same as it ever was…Same as it ever was…

I like to call this

I like to call this “Mouse That Lived Under My Oven”.

May it rest in peace. It and its two siblings.

My family is very odd.

My family is very odd. Er, nontraditional.

We just finished dinner—which consisted of breakfast foods—at thirty minutes after midnight.

So, I’ve prepared you a form message to save you time.

How often does World Trade Center collapse imagery play a part in your dreams?

Any answer is fine.

This is making the rounds,

This is making the rounds, so you may have already seen it, but here are some of Tim O’Reilly’s thoughts on “piracy” in which he makes several excellent points including casting “piracy” as a form of progressive taxation.

Could I want an iPod

Could I want an iPod made of Aerogel more? (No.)

Could I want an iPod

Could I want an iPod laser-engraved with Madonna’s signature more? (Yes, because that’s very very stupid.)

Could I want a brick

Could I want a brick of Aerogel more? (No.)
