It would be a crime if I didn't! I am a musician myself, after all. I have been doing that my whole life: what you are talking about, really listening to music. Even when I was a kid I would take a favorite song of the time (probably Van Halen or Michael Jackson) and disect the entire song in my head, spread it out, analyze each riff, then put it all back together in that magic studio in my head, and enjoy the song. I agree, I would encourage everyone who hasn't done this to definately do so.
