Big or little?
When you have a sandwich that has been sliced into two unequally sized portions, which portion do you eat first: the big one or the little one?

Well since I’m the one that posed the question I suppose I’ll go ahead and answer:
I always always eat the little “half” first. Because then I have the majority of my food left to look forward to, even after I’ve finished the delicious small first “half”. Is this a sign of gluttony? Or of preferring delayed gratification? Or just a sign of being weird for having wondered about it being a psychological question in the first place?

I am surprised Laura doesn’t break out into hives because she didn’t cut them exactly the same. :)
I think I eat the smaller one first. I don’t know as I am not sure its a repeatable pattern. I might just eat the closer one first.

I don’t really notice the size of the cut portions of my sandwich. I usually just eat the first one I happen to take (like Brian said, it’s probably the one closer to me). Since having 2 kids, I’ve cut our sandwiches into fourths diagonally. Now you have 4 different sized portions and I sure would still reach for the closest one.
Now that I’m thinking it over, it’s hard to choose. True, you eat the small portion and have more to look forward to, but I think I would do that if it’s my first time to try it (just in case I don’t like it, I’m not forced to eat too much more). On the other hand, I feel that I would choose the bigger portion probably because if I were, for example, eating a burger (knowing that I probably won’t finish it) I can eat the larger portion and feel satisfied that I ate a good amount and save the rest for later.

I pick up both halves of the sandwich, one in each hand, and simultaneously bite off a corner from each.
This way no one feels left out and everyone is equal.
If it looks like one is going to be finished first, I open my mouth wider on that side and cram more in on that side to compensate, so no one will feel left behind.

I eat the little ones first. Because that’s the way it is.
