It’s easy to discriminate against the Other.
I wonder if President Bush would be pushing for a federal amendment barring gay marriage if Jenna or Barbara was gay. Apparently Vice President Cheney can’t bring himself to.
Of course, this is why opinion polls show an inverse relationship between support for gay rights and age — young people know gay people. Of course, so do those who are older, they just may not know it.

Moreover, I wonder what Bush’s blundering response would be if asked if he would support such an amendment if one or both of his daughters were gay. Or has he been asked that already?
